2009 - Elizabeth Bor
Liz Bor
2008 - Judy Woods
Judy Woods has been involved in school libraries and school library associations both in SA and on the national level for many years.
Judy has held many positions on the various committees and we have valued her knowledge, experience and willingness to share so much with others. She has been President, Treasurer and an ASLA Councillor and has always volunteered for various subcommittees and tasks that need to be done.
Over the years Judy has been involved in the organisation of numerous PD the organisation of numerous PD sessions and conferences. Judy was SLASA President during the time and held the group together. We were raw recruits organsiing the conference for Teacher Librarians from all over Australia. It then became an international event as IASL became involved.
We have all really enjoyed working with Judy over the years - she is someone we have come to rely on and we value her wisdom and common sense approach. We have learned so much from Judy and appreciate all she has done for the Teacher Librarian community over many years.
The same hard work and dedication to her role has been evident in all schools Judy has worked in where she has widely promoted the library and especially her love of literature ot staff and students. Judy is still involved with the Premier's Reading Challenge helping select books for the lists.
2007 - Fran Knight
Fran has been associated with SLASA and ASLA over many years where she has contributed by being actively involved as a committee member and by taking on various roles. She has also participated in and presented at numerous professional development activities.
However, it is in her passion for children’s and young adult literature that Fran has made her greatest mark. There would be few teacher librarians, and teachers, who would not have come across Fran’s perceptive and insightful reviews presented in her engaging and chatty style, in one of the educational magazines and newsletters where her reviews can be found. She is also a regular contributor to oztlnet and slasanet and offers her knowledge and advice to all.
2006 - Dr Maureen Nimon
Maureen has had a long association and made a lasting contribution to teacher librarians and the profession in several important ways.
Many practising teacher librarians remember her as a lecturer in the Teacher Librarianship course and the inspiring and thought-provoking lectures she delivered in children’s literature, particularly in science fiction.
Maureen has also contributed much to teacher librarianship through her numerous publications. These have ranged from literature, to information literacy, to research and teacher librarian education.
Maureen was affiliated with teacher librarians for many years through her membership of ALIA (School Section) and CoSLA, SLASA’s predecessor.
We thank Maureen for her extensive and valuable contribution to teacher librarians.
