Library Tours

Visits to Glenunga International High School and Seymour Junior School Libraries on Saturday 5 November 2016, with an option to have lunch at Angel's Café.

Our Heritage

SLASA and the FoSLs (Friends of School Libraries) held a joint event on Thursday 27 October 2016 in the Hetzel Lecture Theatre, Institute Building, State Library of South Australia.

There were three guest speakers:
Jacquie Holdich – retired Teacher Librarian, and past SLASA President, spoke about her recent revelation that she is a first cousin of Charles Dickens, four times removed.
Joanna Day – Coordinator, Online Services at the State Library, shared information about the State Library's major project for the commemoration of the Centenary of ANZAC – the SA Red Cross Information Bureau website, including the Red Cross Letters project.
Lesley Brideson – retired Teacher Librarian, past SLASA President, and a volunteer for the Adelaide City Council, lead a guided walk of the ANZAC walk along Kintore Ave.

Celebratory food and drink was provided.
It was a great opportunity to connect and celebrate with past and current school library colleagues and find out more about ideas to share back at school.
After the event, many of the participants went to dinner at Hide and Seek (Thai food) on Austin Street.

SLASA SSO/Library Staff Conference

Friday 10 June 2016 at the Education Development Centre, Milner Street, Hindmarsh

The program included workflow nuts and bolts, display ideas (including electronic displays), Book Week and other event preparation, library system discussions, copyright/Creative Commons, career options and lots of networking opportunities.

SLASA Promoting Diversity in Literature

Presentations from Samuel Williams, Fran Knight and Emma Phillips highlighting strategies to assist staff and students select and share resources to promote diversity.
