Guest speaker: Dr Kelly Stephens
Director, Edtech and Education Policy - Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion
Dr Kelly Stephens has over two decades of experience in education research and policy, including 10 years as Director, Strategic Analysis within the NSW Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation. In her current role she is working with Professor Leslie Loble on a project to ensure that Australian students benefit from high-quality education technology, and that edtech realises its potential to help close equity gaps in learning experiences and outcomes.
Kelly’s presentation, The best of times, the worst of times, will chart a course between technophile and technophobe in exploring some of the impacts of rapidly changing technology on education practices. It takes the Australian Framework for Generative AI in Schools as a point of reference to ask how we can best leverage edtech to improve student experience and outcomes, reducing rather than increasing existing equity gaps. There will also be time for questions, answers, and joint consideration of our exciting yet sometimes unnerving new world.
This presentation is for school library staff, teachers and school leaders.
