Bestselling Australian author Tristan Bancks (Two Wolves, The Fall, Detention, Cop & Robber, Scar Town) shares ways teachers and library staff can engage students with reading and writing, providing them with practical strategies that they can apply in their classroom/library.

He will share his use of technology to inspire kids and teens to read and write. Over the past two years Tristan has been working with Apple Education and Queensland University of Technology to create a community of practice, placing his Young Writers’ Story School online video writing workshop into hundreds of classrooms across Australia and New Zealand and offering the teachers regular PD sessions and a community platform.

The program draws on the latest technology from audio and video to online maps and augmented reality to bring communication to life for students. In this session, Tristan shares the often-surprising discoveries made through this program and from over 100 school visits a year on new ways for students to engage with reading and writing and build self-esteem. More on Tristan at www.tristanbancks.com.

Tea and coffee on arrival with a light supper during the event.
